Kids Camp; 17th – 19th October

This October holiday, we are bringing back our very popular Kids Holiday Camp.  This will run from 9am – 3pm Tuesday 17th –  Thursday 19th October 2017.  Below you can find some more details. 

3 Days of Action-Packed Fun!!

9:00am – 3:00pm daily

Open to all students aged 5 & over.

 

A great way to keep the kids entertained this school holiday!

Healthy snacks & water provided.  Just bring a packed lunch along each day.

You’ll also receive a special camp t-shirt!

Champions at the North East!

This morning we traveled north to Aberdeen for the annual North East Challenge Cup (NECC), hosted by Master Wallace, Mr. Boydell and the NTA.  

The day started sharp, with Patterns, and finished up just after 6pm.  A busy day for the 17 competitors who made the journey north, securing 18 medals between them; 10 GOLD, 4 SILVER and 4 BRONZE!!

Big shout out also to our umpires today; Mr. McIlvaney, Mr. Munro Snr & Mrs. Singleton, who worked tirelessly all day.  And to our coaches; Miss. Brown, Mr. Cain, Mr. Jervis & Mr. McAvoy too. 

We now look forward to our inter club competition, and the British Championships in November.

World Championships Call Up

Members of GMAC Martial Arts have been selected to be part of the national team at the forthcoming ITF World Championships being held in Dublin, Ireland from 9th to 15th October. 

We are please to announce the following selections;

  • Jason Munro:  Senior 3rd Degree Patterns and Team events
  • Iain O’Hare:  Senior -70kg Sparring and Team events
  • Megan Brown:  Senior 2nd Degree Pattern, -56kg Sparring and Team events
  • Melissa Brown:  Senior Female Team events
  • Kieran Cain:  Senior 1st Degree Pattern and Team events
  • Jay Jervis:  Junior -68kg Sparring and Team events
  • Hayden McAvoy:  Junior -50kg Sparring and Team events

Training is well under way and we wish them all the best in their preparations for the event.

NECC 16th September

 

Dear Masters and Instructors, 

2017 – North East Challenge Cup 

It is with great pleasure that you and your students are invited to the 2017 North East Challenge Cup on Saturday 16th September 2017 at the Aberdeen Sports Village, Linksfield Rd, Aberdeen AB24 5RU, 01224 438900. 

Tournament will start at 09:00 with opening address and awarding of junior participation medals. 

This competition is open to Taekwon-Do students only. There will be four individual and one team event contested, Patterns, Sparring Special Technique, Power Test and Pre-Arranged Free Sparring

This championships is open to all students white belt and above and will be split into six age groups Juniors up to 8yrs & 9-12yrs, Teens 13-14 yrs and 15-17; Adults 18-35yrs and Seniors 36yrs and over

The competition will be run as per ITF rules but with some small amendments to accommodate age and competitor level. 

We will endeavour to separate competitors from the same school competing against each other in initial rounds, thus improving the experience of all students. Juniors will be divided initially by age, then grade and height criteria. Teens and Adults will be categorised initially by age, then grade and weight. The weight division’s upper and lower limits will established according to the weight spread of the entries. 

Please ensure, for the safety of the sparring competitors, that weights are checked and personally verified by the responsible instructor before forwarding them for processing. Please note that by sending through your entry form your agreeing to the tournaments conditions. 

Entry forms should be part of this invitation so if they are not present please let me know by email and I will forward them on. Please return the official school entry form by Saturday 2nd September to mgw@mwba.info

West Lothian Open Results

The 2017 West Lothian Open Championships were held on 25th June in Armadale, with 380 competitors in attendance, including over 50 from GMAC.  

Congratulations to all medal winners who lifted a staggering 19 Gold, 32 Silver and  29 Bronze, coming 2nd Overall from 24 clubs.

Wishaw Bank Holiday 29th May

Monday 29th May, our Wishaw gym will be closed for the May Bank Holiday weekend, unfortunately this is out with our control.
