Our next Inter club championships is being held on Sunday 4th June, at our Livingston gym.  Entry forms are now available from your instructors, and should be returned by the closing date of 30th May.

Events are as follows;

The competition is open to all our students from Little Ninja’s up to our Teens.  We have also added this year a punching* category for those in our Little Ninja classes who have yet to learn patterns.  All categories are age and grade specific, with sparring divisions being ran in a league format, meaning each competitor is guaranteed more than one bout in categories of 3 or more competitors.

Please note that we do recommend that children taking part in sparring have their own sparring equipment, not only is it more hygienic, but saves time on the day of the event.  Should you require to purchase, please ask your instructor for current deals.

A full time table will be issued after the closing date.  Competitors only require to attend during their allotted time slot.

38 competitors from GMAC attended the T-UK Goodwill Championships in Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh on Saturday 13th May.  

Between them amassing a grand total of 30 GOLD,  26 SILVER, 8 BRONZE medals!!

Our Wishaw classes shall be off this evening (1st May 2017), due to the Volunteer Centre being closed for the May Day Bank Holiday.

Livingston and Uddingston classes are on as normal.

Seven competitors from GMAC travelled as part of the Scottish National Team to the European Championships last week in Sofia, Bulgaria,  Mr. McIlvaney was in attendance also as Team Manager, and coach, as well as Mr. John Munro who was selected as part of the umpire team for the championships.

The competition ran over four days Thursday to Sunday, with our competitors giving a great account of themselves, and the intense training they have completed in the run up to the event.  All of them progressing past the first round in their respective divisions, with most successfully moving forward to the quarter final stages and beyond.

Our competitors brought home medals as follows;

Jason Munro, Iain O’Hare & Kieran Cain medaled as part of the Senior Male Pattern Team (Bronze)

Sarah Curtis & Megan Brown medaled as part of the Senior Female Power Team (Bronze)

Congratulations to the Scottish Team who successfully won a combined 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 6 Bronze medals during the championships, placing 8th overall on the medal table, from 29 countries.  

With selections just around the corner for the World Championships in Dublin later in the year, we are sure they will continue to work hard to secure those podium places come October.

Forms for this competition have been handed out in class.  If you have not yet done so, please collect one, and return before 5th May, ensuring your height & weight are completed correctly.
