Starting 2018 with a Bang!

So we’ve just finished our first week back after the festive break, and already its been an exciting week!  We’ve squeezed so much in 7 days, and 2018 is only just beginning…

We welcomed everyone back to classes this week, and kick started the year off on a high.  Great energy and enthusiasm throughout all classes, and targets set for the year!

Yesterday saw the official launch of our special needs classes for both kids, and teens/adults, after a number of sessions throughout November & December we can already see those who came along and took part are super excited, enjoying the classes, and eager to continue.  We have also been asked along to another community action project in Boghall, with our first Martial Arts session starting tomorrow, and look to continue our work within the local communities and schools in the areas surrounding our gyms.

We have some exciting new things planned for 2018 on the competition mat, and have already kick started this with our Taekwon-Do Joint Competitor Development Training alongside our friends at Scotia TKD, 2 session in and already we see lots of progress, and look forward to workin

g towards each competitors goals for the year.  Our Kickboxers took part in their first WAKO training today in Livingston, and are eager to attend the next planned session.  We also have a number of bouts lined up in the coming months for both our Kickboxers and Boxers, watch out for more info soon….

On behalf of all the GMAC Instructors and Assistants, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank you all for another great year.  It has been another extremely busy year, filled with various events, competitions, as well as lots of courses and seminars.

Personally we’d like to thank all the instructors who’ve put so much in to the classes this year, continually working hard, pushing the students to get the best from them.  We’ve seen every single student achieve something this year, and we look forward to working hard together to achieve even more in 2018.

We as always thank you for your continued support, and wish you all a very happy and safe holiday with family and friends.

Competitor Development Training

We have been running a bi-weekly Competition training recently, as requested by a number of students in the run up to various competitions.  This will continue as a main feature of our training sessions, being held every two weeks where possible.  Full dates will be posted on the Facebook page in advance, please check regularly for details.

The last planned session prior to Christmas is this Friday 8th December (7pm – 8.30pm).  The cost per session is £5.

We have also decided to open a competitors fund, which we will use to assist with travel costs or entry fees to both national and international competitions in 2018.  We hope that members use the development training sessions which are geared to the competitive side of the martial art, to increase their knowledge and ability.  And support each other in attending more events in 2018.

British Championships Success!

16 competitors from GMAC travelled to the Open British Championships being held in Crawley, just outside London last weekend (25th November).  The competition was hosted by representatives from Scotland, England and Wales who came together to bring this awesome event to fruition.   The competition attracted 472 competitors, not only from the UK, but Ireland, Norway and Portugal as well.

Most of the team, and their supporters travelled to Crawley the day before, giving some time to explore the local area, as well as complete the registration & height/weight check in plenty of time.

Our competitors had been working hard over the last few months to prepare for the championships, putting in hours of extra practice on top of their weekly classes, and it certainly paid off with no less than 19 medals heading home with the team!
